Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center rejecting kids arrested for misdemeanors due to coronavirus

"Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court said it will not house any additional children arrested on misdemeanors in the juvenile detention center in order to help prevent the spread of coronavirus."

Former prosecutor sues Netflix over Central Park 5 series

"Former Manhattan prosecutor Linda Fairstein has sued Netflix and film director Ava DuVernay over her portrayal in the streaming service's miniseries about the Central Park Five case, which sent five black and Latino teenagers to prison for a crime they were later absolved of committing.

Fairstein claims in the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in federal court in Fort Myers, Florida, that the four-part series 'When They See Us' defamed her by portraying her as a 'racist, unethical villain.'"

Advocates want Ohio officials to release some juvenile inmates amid coronavirus pandemic

New program for people coming out of foster care and juvenile justice system

"According to experts, there are dozens of young people in the Toledo area who come out of the juvenile justice or foster care systems at any given time with no place to go. This program is part of the effort to help change that.

A home on Nebraska Avenue will provide campus-like housing and wraparound services to three men between the ages of 18-21. They will receive help finding work or continuing their education. There will also be resident assistants living in the home with the young men."

"This report presents findings from the National Survey of Youth in Custody, 2018 (NSYC-3), conducted from March to December of 2018. The NSYC-3 was conducted in 327 facilities that housed juveniles, including 217 state-owned or -operated facilities and 110 locally or privately operated facilities that held state-placed youth under contract."
