Timothy Young
Director

Tim Young received his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton in 1988. He continued his education in Dayton and graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1992. After law school he entered private practice for two years before joining the Montgomery County Public Defender Office in 1994. He worked as an assistant public defender, then as the manager of the Dayton Municipal Court division of the office, and since 2000, he has worked as the Deputy Director of the Public Defender Office.

He has served on numerous boards and committees including the Board of the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyer Project and more than 10 years on the Committee on the Appointment of Counsel for Indigent Defendants in Capital Cases (more commonly known as the Rule 20 Committee). He has tried numerous cases throughout his career ranging from misdemeanors to homicide cases. He has devoted his career to serving the indigent population of our society. On January 1, 2008 he was appointed to be the State Public Defender for the State of Ohio.
